The Spotlight series is back to feature another member of La Halte! Today, we'll learn about the Bell Fund's mission, history, and projects.
1. Can you briefly introduce Bell Fund and explain what your business, mission, and/or services entail?
The Bell Fund is a nonprofit organization recognized by the CRTC as an Certified Independent Production Fund (CIPF) eligible to receive contributions from broadcast distribution undertakings and online streaming services. The Fund is governed by a board of directors that is independent of Bell TV. The team consists of six people based in Montreal and Toronto.
With these contributions, the Bell Fund supports the production of audiovisual content by offering funding programs to Canadian production companies. In 2026, we had two selective programs: the Production Program and the Slate Development Program.
2. Why did you choose a coworking space over another type of office?
We had to leave our offices in April 2026 due to renovations. After evaluating all our options, renting dedicated desks at Halte 24-7 emerged as the best solution for our small team (we are two Bell Fund representatives in Montreal) who work in person 2 to 3 days a week. We were completely charmed by the spaces (and the team!) at Halte 24-7 coworking!
3. Tell us a little about your role, your background, and what motivated you to join this business.
I joined the Bell Fund team in August 2023. Since then, I’ve been working closely with my colleague, who has been part of the team since June 2022. We’re both passionate about content (TV shows, movies, documentaries, etc.) and are very proud to work for a company that helps foster and promote locally produced content.
4. Can you share some details about your aspirations, your current projects, and your future plans?
At the Bell Fund, fall is a time to wrap up the administrative aspects of the year and prepare for the next one: we finalize the details of upcoming programs and everything related to them, and we communicate the application deadlines to the producer community. It’s worth noting that promotion and communication play a key role in what we do: we raise awareness of and explain our programs so that production companies can submit competitive funding applications that have a real chance of being selected by our juries.
This also takes us all over Quebec and Canada to meet with Francophone producers.
If we’re away for a week, don’t worry—we’ll be back soon!

A membership plan tailored to their needs
The Bell Fund team has been renting two dedicated desks in the quiet shared space at Halte 24-7 coworking since May 2026. They regularly use the phone booths and meeting rooms to participate in their online meetings or hold team meetings. We are delighted to welcome them at Halte 24-7 coworking and look forward to seeing their future projects take shape!
