Welcome to our series highlighting members of Halte 24-7 Coworking and their customized plans. This week, we had the chance to chat with Emma Pélaprat from SR, the Montreal Replacement Service, a non-profit organization here at Halte 24-7 Coworking since 2020!
Welcome Emma! Could you briefly introduce SR and explain your field of activity or services?
The SR Montreal Replacement Service has been a childcare placement agency for over 20 years, now operating as a non-profit organization. Our main role is to meet the staffing needs of childcare centers, whether it's for long-term, short-term, or last-minute replacements on the same day! We're not just a placement agency but also a catalyst for change in the childcare network through our partnership with Cégep du Vieux Montréal, training early childhood educators through our affiliated childcare services.
Why did you choose a coworking space over another type of office? How do you find coworking, specifically at Halte?
Being a small team at SR, coworking is immensely valuable for us. Surrounded by people from different work backgrounds, we can exchange ideas and create partnerships, such as with Panorama Digital, our digital marketing agency that we met at Halte. We've also had the opportunity to benefit from the services of Me Joëlle Thibault.
The working environment at Halte is ideal, with shared workspaces, conference rooms, and more relaxed spaces, catering to everyone's preferences!
Tell us a bit about your role, your journey (from educator to deputy director) at SR, and the motivations that led you to join and stay with the team.
Arriving in Montreal in September 2019 with experience in early childhood education in France, I turned to SR. After a year and a half and exploring different environments, I was offered a role in the administrative team as an educational consultant. Then, after two years in this role supporting educators in their pedagogy, I became the deputy director of SR to bring in new projects!
Congratulations on the new title! Can you also share some details about the projects currently underway at SR?
Currently, we are working to expand our services to other cities, such as Laval.
What are SR's aspirations and future projects for the coming years?
We have some significant projects coming up, but we're keeping them under wraps! Also, we aim to further involve SR in the childcare network by expanding our services and projects to be a recognized agent of change in the field.

Upon their arrival at Halte over a year ago, the team had three dedicated desks on the ground floor. With time and development, they now have a closed office!
